Pigment powder, or mica powder, is a colored (often pearlescent) powder.

The powder can be used to:

  • Color mediums like embossing paste, gilding wax, acrylic paint
  • Paint with water (although you might have to use a binding a binder medium like gum arabic to prevent the powder from rubbing off)
  • Create a shimmery effect on cardstock, either by applying it straight to the paper or to an area that has embossing ink applied (with a foam blending tool, by stamping an image with the embossing ink, by drawing with an embossing ink pen …). In this case it's best to use a spray varnish to set the powder.

Some brands of pigment powder are

  • Perfect Pearls by Ranger
  • Arteza
