Water based markers
Markers with a water-based ink can be used on their own or combined with water to fade out the color or to blend colors together.
ZIG Clean Color Real Brush markers are among the most used. Other brands are Tombow Dual Brush or Ranger Distress markers.
Paper
To be able to blend out the colors with water, you'll have to use paper that is suited for this technique, such as:
- Strathmore Bristol Smooth
- Watercolor paper
Using markers on stamps
A fun technique that can be used with water-based markers, is to color directly onto your stamp with the markers, sprits a very light mist of water over the stamp, and then press down the stamp. The image can now be modified by dragging out the color from the lines with a wet brush.
By using a stamping tool, you can easily add different colors of ink to different sections of the stamp.
