Alcohol markers
From Craft Wiki
Alcohol markers give a very even, homogenous result when coloring in images.
Brands of markers
The best type of alcohol marker is Copic. Copic markers are artist-grade markers, come in a variety of colors but are on the more expensive side. They are the easiest to blend with. A good alternative to Copic seems to be Ohuhu markers.
Chameleon pens use the concept of a colorless blender to give a gradient look by going from a very light color to the actual color of the marker.
Other brands of alcohol markers are also available.
Stamping ink
If you want to color in a stamped image with alcohol markers, you'll need the right ink to prevent smearing, such as:
- My Favorite Things Extreme Black
- Gina K. Designs Obsidian black (amalgam)
- Memento Tuxedo Black
- Lawn Fawn Jet Black
Paper
To get a good result, you need to saturate your (heavyweight) paper with ink. Some good options here are:
- Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cover 80 lbs (or 110 lbs if you want something sturdier)
- Transotype Perfect Colouring Paper (250 gsm)
- Clairefontaine DCP (300 gsm)
