Embossing indicates a surface, like paper, that has raised areas.

There are multiple types of embossing:

  • dry embossing: shaping the paper so that certain areas are raised
  • heat embossing: melting a powder onto paper (or other materials)
  • embossing paste: using a paste that can be applied to the paper (through a stencil) and will have some thickness when dry
