Embossing indicates a surface that has raised areas, like paper.
There are multiple types of embossing:
- dry embossing: shaping the paper so that certain areas are raised
- debossing: creating depth by pressing a shape into paper
- heat embossing: melting a powder onto paper (or other materials)
- embossing paste: using a paste that can be applied to the paper (through a stencil) and will have some thickness when dry
